Answering 911: Life in the Hot Seat Book

We're excited to now offer this popular book in both hardback and paperback at $2 lower than retail! It was released in paperback in September 2007. This is the first known 9-1-1 non-fiction book to our site! Caroline Barau is a 911 dispatcher for the White Bear, Minnesota Communications Center. She writes honestly and passionately about everything from pre-employment to training, coping and finally becoming "one of us". We suggest you make it a "must read" for every rookie (or existing staffer) in your center. (Note from Kevin at 911CARES: I think this book has a number of values to the profession and one is that it may normalize the feelings of stress, being unsure of yourself or the process of being "a seasoned dispatcher."  I think every communicator has lived a lot of what Caroline has written about.  It's an easy read and we're glad she allowed us to use the book as a fundraiser for 911CARES!) Every agency should have this book in their library!
